“Mirror Mirror on the Wall, Who Is the Fairest of Them All?”
Has the mirror become your enemy? Well you are not alone. there was a moment in my life that all mirrors were my enemy. I could not see myself in the mirror because I hated what I saw. I would see this chubby girl with huge eyes and chubby cheeks. I would see the love handles the thick thighs, etc. It was a battle for me. As I looked into the mirror , I would hear voices , " you aren't pretty, you will never be skinny, your fat, no one loves you, kill yourself, take diets pills, dont eat, throw up, drink and take drugs, everything you can imagine I heard looking at the mirror. And I took every word I heard and put them into practice. I did everything what the mirror told me to do. But let me tell yo something, the mirror was lying to me. If you read the previous post " you are beautiful" you can see that all those things that the mirror told me was a complete lie. Want to know another reason why. Well let me teach you something I didn't know when I was fighting this battle.
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.Genesis 1:27We were created in the image of God. And trust me God is not ugly. He is beautiful, amazing, loving, caring, He is everything! So if we were made in His image and we say these awful things about ourselves, we are in fact telling them to God as well. After all we are his image. God does not make anything ugly, or wrong. He doesnt make things with effects, or wrong things. He is our creator so why should we have a say to discriminate his art work. We have to go against that voice we hear in the mirror and hear what our mind says. We don't have to look a certain way, get plastic surgery, and do all crazy stuff to perfect our image. The true beauty comes within. The next time you look at yourself in the mirror and those voices pop up think about good things about yourself. How smart you are, or how talented you are. I have learned to kill bad with good. So when I learned that and was fighting that battle (that at times still fight) I start thinking about good things about myself. I know its going to be hard at first, but who said it was going to be easy? But when you do this you will see a change, you will see how you have the control. Dont let that mirror deceive you. Be strong!
If you really dont like the way you look and see that it can cause health issues then take a step into doing something healthy that can help you. For example, start exercising, change your eating habits, etc.
If you see that its not that and its just something else. Then engage in your spiritual life. Get a hold of God and tell him what is bottles inside. Tell him. Working on your spiritual life you will see and learned true beauty is what is inside.
You can overcome this. I know you can but you have to trust in yourself. I once hated myself. Now i love myself.
Who are letting win? The mirror or you?
